Research All of our residents participate in the Scholar Council, a longitudinal program with mentoring, opportunities for scholarly activity, and workshops on research skills throughout the year. Our residents showcase their work nationally through conferences and journal publications. Annually, our residents have around 100 conference presentation and around 30-40 published manuscripts.

The, a student-run clinic, provides residents additional opportunities to hone their teaching skills with medical students while providing care. Provides access to healthcare to the homeless population through a mobile van service and pop up clinics on a regular basis. Several residents have enjoyed opportunities to provide healthcare, health education, and program & curriculum development to other countries. Our residents have traveled to Africa, China, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, and the Philippines, to name a few.

Johns Hopkins Bayview is situated at this intersection between these two worlds of academic and personal practice. This is more than rhetoric.
For me a resident, it defines the lens through which I am exposed and learn to navigate the science and practicalities of delivering medical care. What I appreciate most about Johns Hopkins Bayview is that this is represented in both its macro- and micro-environments, and that this is reflected in my experience as a trainee. From a programmatic and faculty standpoint, there is an intentional cultural expression of this intersection. While the program definitely has an intimate feel to it, all the resources of a large academic institution are still very much available through the Johns Hopkins system. Whether it’s the crabs, the state flag or the sports teams, this area has a unique energy and identity that I have not found anywhere else in the country.
